2008 News (updated September 2008)
Dear Parent/Carer
Welcome back! The children have had an enthusiastic and cheerful few days back at school and we are looking forward to a successful and happy time in year 4. This term we shall be working on the topic of the Anglo Saxons which many of our subjects will be linked to:
History: The children will be finding out who the Anglo Saxons were, where they came from and why they came.
Geography: We will be building our own Anglo Saxon settlement.
Science: Our topic of Keeping Warm will include measuring the daily temperature and finding the best thermal conductors and insulators.
RE: We will be looking at the beliefs of the Christian religion.
DT: the children are looking forward to designing and making our own money containers.
Music and PE: Rehearsing our own Anglo Saxon song and dance. The children will need their PE kit on a Friday.
Games: Swimming will be on a Wednesday morning this term until Christmas.
Numeracy: Number operations addition, subtraction, division and multiplication.
Literacy: Stories with historical settings and making our own newspapers.
ICT: Creating images on screen using a variety of tools and programmes.
